Root Cause Mechanic — Delete your account

You can delete your Root Cause Mechanic account and its data at any time. You do not need to contact us, and you do not need a reason.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. Your account data is deleted from our systems at the time of the request — it is not queued, archived, or held for later review. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore it afterwards.

1. Delete it yourself, in the app (fastest)

This is the quickest route and it takes effect immediately.

Open the Root Cause Mechanic app and make sure you are signed in.
Go to Settings › Account.
Tap Delete Account.
Type DELETE to confirm.

The app tells you exactly what will be removed before you confirm.

2. If you no longer have the app installed

You do not need to reinstall it. Email admin@rcmechanic.shop from the email address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account.

We use the sending address to identify the account, so please send it from the address you signed up with. If you cannot, tell us which address the account uses and we may ask you to confirm ownership before deleting anything — this protects you from someone else deleting your account.

We action requests within 30 days, and normally much sooner.

3. What is deleted

Deleting your account removes the data tied to it:

your account and sign-in credentials;
your vehicles and their details;
your diagnostic cases, verdicts, and the evidence attached to them;
your recorded drives and their sensor data;
your maintenance and service records;
any outcomes you reported after a repair;
any shares you granted to a repair shop.

Data stored only on your phone is erased from the device at the same time.

4. What is not deleted, and why

Anonymous diagnostics and error counts are kept. They carry no identifier that could link them to you or to your vehicles — they are counts of things like "a scan failed" with no account, email, VIN, or free text attached — so there is nothing in them to delete on your behalf.

Backups taken before your deletion request age out on their normal cycle rather than being edited retroactively.

If your data was shared with a repair shop and that shop wrote its own service records, those records belong to the shop's own account and are not removed by deleting yours.
